Alvey Douglas "Doug" Lindsey,

Retired Master Chief, Ava, MO

Alvey Douglas Lindsey, 68, born on November 8, 1943, passed away at home, on May 31, 2012.

Doug was born in Leavenworth, KS to Alvey Percy and Calla Rene (Mathy) Lindsey. He graduated from Washington High School, Kansas City, KS in 1961. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country for 25 years. When stationed in Albuquerque N.M., he met and married the love of his life, Rosemary (Messier) Lindsey. Two daughters April and Joni were born in 1964 and 1965.

During his career in the Armed Forces, he served with honor, integrity and always, always, did the very best in everything he did. This is a virtue that Doug instilled in all of those around him, throughout his life. Early in his career, he served in the Vietnam War and completed tours on the USS Midway and the USS Kittyhawk specializing in aviation radar and sonar electronics, eventually retiring as a Command Master Chief with the highest honors, on May 31, 1986.

In 2003 Doug and Rosemary moved to Ava, Mo. Doug was a Christian and a very straight forward and simple military man who fiercely loved and was always there for his family.
