Marvin “Newt” Delp, 78 years, 8 months, and 1 day old, passed to heaven on July 21, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.

Newt was born November 20, 1933 in Thornfield, MO to Roy Toby and Nora Ellen (Dilk) Delp.

Newt was a resident of the Squires community most of his life. On April 30, 1955 Newt and Betty Jo Degase were united in marriage in Squires, MO and to this union three children were born.

Newt worked in Kansas City area for about 15 years, then he returned home and farmed and operated a Fertilizer truck. He was a Christian. He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, square dancing and visiting with people. Newt never met a stranger.

Newt was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Delmas, Boyd, Doyle, Don, Hercel Delp, four sisters, Mildred Graves, Bonnie Lawson, Jewell Marsh and infant sister, Hazel.

Newt is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Delp, Squires, MO, three children and their spouses, Randall & Debbie Delp, Noble, MO, Vickie & Mike Prock, Ava, MO and Chris Delp, Squires, MO, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother, Billy Dean Delp, Zillah, WA, two sisters, Jean Swearengin, Belton, MO, Barbara Kroes,Toppenish, WA, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Newt will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Ron Pinckney and Rev. Randy Dalton. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or American Diabetes Association.
