Charles Richard "Dick" Cogdill

Ava, MO

Charles Richard Cogdill, 71 years, 3 months, and 3 days old, passed away on August 11, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.

Dick was born May 8, 1941 in Colorado Springs, CO to Lawrence and Mary (Lemonds) Cogdill.

Dick was a resident of the Ava community for twelve years. He was a Navy Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a retired Instrument Technician for a Holly Sugar Corp.

Dick was a great "shade tree mechanic" and a "jack of all trades but master of none." He enjoyed life and just being with all his family and especially his grandchildren.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Vance MacAfee, two sisters, Mae Newman and June Jincks and one brother, Don Cogdill and an infant brother, Estelle Cogdill.

Dick is survived by four daughters, Kimberley Flynn and Dawn Conaway both of Ava, MO,Vanessa Million, Lodi, CA and Sheila Andrews, Turlock, CA, two sons, Lawrence Cogdill, Ava, MO and Rick Marshall, Stockton, CA, 24 grandchildren, too many great grandchildren to count,three sisters, Sharon Kay Alford, Ava, MO, Rose Hogan, Bethany, MO and Helen Skroh, Osceola, IA, one brother, George Cogdill, Benbrook, TX, his companion, Agnes Irene Jones and a host of other relatives and friends. Dick was a very special person to his family and friends.

Cremation services for Dick are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home. Helping the Homeless was a passion of Charles so Memorials may be made to Victory Mission, P.O. Box 2884, Springfield, MO 65801.
