George Albert Boyd

Norwood, MO

George Albert Boyd, 93 years, passed away on August 23, 2012 at his home.

George was born July 23, 1919 in Cookston, OK to Andy and Leora (Horn) Boyd.

George lived for several years in Douglas County in the Norwood community. On September of 1944 George and Mary Louise Rosson were united in marriage in Oklahoma and to this union four children were born.

George was a farmer, carpenter and had done many other jobs. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and going to yard sales. A joy in his life was spending time with all his family and especially the grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary in 1995, five brothers, Rufus, Henry, Bob, Otis and Leon Boyd, two sisters, Ellen & Floy, a great grandson, Andy, and a great great granddaughter, Tinsley Rae Sanderson.

George is survived by four children and their spouses, Otis & Lois Boyd, Paul & Donna Boyd and Johnny & Debbie Boyd, all of Norwood, MO and Deborah & Ken Sawyer, Ava, MO, 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, two sisters, Juanita Avila, Delhi, CA and Hazel Thompson, Jerome, Idaho, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for George will be Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Evans Cemetery, east of Ava. Officiating will be Pastor Buddy Boyd a grandson. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus, Mtn. Grove, MO or Evans Cemetery.
