George Lee Adrain Owen, 92 years, 11 months, 4 days old, went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.

Adrain was born August 10, 1925 in Ava, MO in the Goodhope community to James and Lunora (Thompson) Owen.

Adrain was a highly decorated U.S. Army Veteran and served during WWII. He was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. He was honored with the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star for these three battles, the Colmar Pocket, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Crossing the Rhine. After the war ended he returned home and met and married Edith Laverne Wright on January 19, 1947. They were blessed with three children, Linda, Jim, and Brenda.

He was a retired Engineer with the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, IL. He had worked there for many years. After retirement he and Laverne returned home to Ava to enjoy their home and farm with their children.

Adrain was a Christian and was a dedicated member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Ava. There, he served as Deacon in the church for several years. He also was a proud member of the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112, Ava VFW #5993, and the Douglas County Veterans Memorial Association where he served as Chaplain in all three organizations.

Adrain was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Laverne, his siblings, Willie and Cleo Owen, Delita Jenkins, Ethel Lawrence, Huba Pruiett, Zenna Haynes, Tressie Shaw, Thelma Cox, and Roberta Kapuska.

Adrain is survived by his three children, Linda Powell and husband, Larry, Jim Owen, and Brenda Sue Owen all of Ava, three grandchildren, Lisa Baracskai, Lori Solak, and Lee Powell, 12 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren,

siblings, Colbert Owen, Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Inetha Madison, Moline, IL,

several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and numerous friends.

Funeral services for Adrain will be Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with the Taps being played by the Troy Herd American Legion Post #112 and Ava VFW #5993 in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Goodhope Cemetery with presenting of the U.S. Flag by the Douglas County Veterans Memorial Assoc. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 17th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Sorensen. Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Mission Fund, P.O. Box 757, Ava, MO or the Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC.
