Albert Lee Elliott, 86 years, 0 months, 5 days old, passed to Heaven on November 11, 2017 at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, MO with his daughter, Carla, by his side.
Albert was born November 6, 1931 in Cheney, MO in Douglas County to Harl and Daisy Lee (Rhoades) Elliott.
He went to East Dogwood School. Albert worked at the sawmill hauling lumber. He was drafted in the U.S. Army and went to Korea and served from 1952 to 54.
On April 6, 1956 Albert and Doris Irene Case were united in marriage at Ava, MO at her parents home and to this union they were blessed with three children.
He was a Christian and a member of the Ava General Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Ava VFW Post #5993 and the Ava Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. He helped put up flags for holidays, delivered medical equipment, and did funeral military honors for many of his fellow veterans. It is so fitting that he passed on Veterans Day.
Albert was retired from working with the Missouri State Highway Dept. He worked there for 28 years. Albert's hobbies were helping all who asked, playing cards, pitching horse shoes, and making sure no one left his house hungry!
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his step parents, his wife, Doris, his son, Darin Lee, a daughter, Gayla Lou Leverson, one brother, Harley "Tom" Elliott, two sisters, Pauline Ellison and Dortha Elliott, half brother, Alvin Elliott, three step brothers, Willard, Burrell, and Dan Coonts, and one step sister, Eva Stephens.
Albert is survived by his daughter and husband, Carla & Jim Hearod, three grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie & Brian Lindsay, Vicki & John Dyer, and Jimmy & Nikki Hearod, eight great grandchildren, Mandi, Jordan, Alyssa, Mikayla, Peanut, Savannah, Noah, and Jaxon, two great great grandchildren, Cayden, and Reagen, four sisters, Lorene Thurman, Nadine Crisp, Corrine Bell, and Faye "Kay" Pfister, one step sister, Geneva Heinlein, many nieces, nephews, in-law's, and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Albert will be Sat. Nov. 18th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery with full military honors by the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 17th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn . Memorials may be made to Ava Place Activities Fund, P.O. Box 1269, Ava, MO 65608.Visitation
