ALFRED EUGENE FOX

Alfred Eugene Fox, 89, of Brixey, MO passed away on August 15, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was born on July 18, 1923 in Jacksonville, AR, the son of Frank and Maude Fox.

Alfred graduated high school in Jacksonville, AR in 1939. On June 8, 1942 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Wanda Stevens. The couple just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Alfred was a veteran and proudly served his country during World War II as a Chief Petty Officer for the Merchant Marines. After four years of service, Alfred and Wanda soon moved to St. Louis, MO where he worked for many years as a freight dock supervisor for companies such as Yellow Freight. After his retirement, Alfred and Wanda moved to Brixey, MO in 1984 where he enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Alfred was also very involved and instrumental in building the Brixey-Rockbridge Volunteer Fire Department. He loved being around children and dressing up as Santa Claus. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Maude Fox. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Wanda; one daughter, Vicki Hawkins and her husband Gordon of Wasola, MO; one grandson Eugene Aldrich; one great grandson Roy Aldrich; 36 nieces and nephews; countless great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

Funeral services for Alfred will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel in Gainesville, MO with Denny Stormes officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery with Full Military Honors and the Patriot Guard Riders present. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. to service time.
