Alice Edith Ankarberg, 94 years, passed to heaven on September 1, 2011 at Gainesville Nursing Home, Gainesville, MO.
Alice was born January 8, 1917 to Rudolph and Clara (Ruenzel) Rehbein in Muskegan, MI.
On September 13, 1947 Alice and Carl Ankarberg were united in marriage in the state of Michigan and to this union one daughter, Judith was born.
Alice served as Assistant Post Mistress for Thornfield for 23 years. She had also worked at a Tannery in Michigan and during WWII she worked at a piston ring factory also in Michigan. She was a member for many years of the Thornfield Southern Baptist Church and played the piano until just recently. She enjoyed weaving rugs for her family and friends. Her joy was serving her family and church.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl in 1997, a daughter, Judith Morpeth and grandson, Eddie Morpeth.
Alice is survived by two grandchildren,William "Bill" Morpeth, Thornfield, MO and Kathleen Lucas, Springfield, MO, seven great grandchildren, Mason and Eli Morpeth, Kalyn Lucas, Valerie McCoy, Cory Bengtson, Levi and Alicia Brianna Morpeth, two great great grandsons, Dane and Dylan McCoy, one brother, Gerald Rehbein, Oviedo, FL, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Alice will be Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Barry DeWeese and Leon Turner. Memorials may be made to Thornfield Cemetery.
