Alice Welch Ava, Missouri
Alice D. Welch, 92 years, passed peacefully into Heaven on her birthday, September 8, 2024 at her home with her family by her side.
Alice was born September 8, 1932 in Girdner, Missouri, to Charley E. and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Plumb) Porter. She was raised in Douglas County and graduated from Ava High School. On May 12, 1950, Alice and Rondo Paul Welch were united in marriage at Wasola, Missouri, and were blessed with four beautiful children.
Alice was a dedicated homemaker and famous for her raisin pies, mischievous sense of humor, and endless generosity and kindness. After Paul heard the call to preach, Alice was always ready to support him in his endeavors in ministry and fulfill her duties as a minister's wife. They spent countless hours visiting their congregations and spreading the word of God.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Marty Welch; her husband Paul in 2012; her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Larry Stewart; her siblings, Effie Potter, Elmer Porter, Pat Porter, Wilma Brooks, Herbert Porter, Bessie Brown, Newt Porter, Lewis Porter, and Cap Porter.
Alice is survived by her children, Harold and Edwina Welch, Joe and Theresa Welch, and Randall Welch; 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Alice will be Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Missouri with burial following in the Hi-Lo Cemetery, Ava, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to the service Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. Officiating will be Pastor Charles McFarland and Pastor James Hatchcock.
