Alma Lee Friend, 69 years, passed away on April 9, 2010 at her home from a short illness.

Alma was born September 2, 1940 in Springfield, MO. Her parents were Troy and Molly Irene (Langston) Beckham.

On July 17, 1976 Alma and Carl Friend were united in marriage in Springfield, MO. Alma was a resident of Thornfield most of her life. She also lived in Springfield where she worked in the Sales Dept. with Ramey-Price-Cutter Supermarket for several years. Later when she moved to Thornfield, she enjoyed cooking for the Thornfield School System. She was a Christian and attended the Thornfield General Baptist Church.
Alma enjoyed fishing, cooking, sewing, playing softball and being with all of her family and friends.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents.

Alma is survived by her husband, Carl Friend, Thornfield, MO, five children, Debbie Bills, Springfield, MO, Kim Jackson, Willard, MO, Steve Potter, Rolla, MO, Teresa Remington, Springfield, MO and Ginger Neely, Walnut Grove, MO, two step children, Sandy Perryman and Steve Friend both of Miller, MO, 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers, Montie Beckham, Sr., Springfield, MO and Paul Beckham, Buffalo, MO and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.



Funeral services for Alma will be Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 13, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Thornfield Cemetery.
