ALVIN THOMAS

Alvin Thomas, 74, of Wasola, MO was born September 15, 1940 in Willhoit, MO to Nancy Genevra (Harley) Thomas and James Kelly Thomas. He departed December 5, 2014 at the Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, AR.

Alvin graduated from Gainesville High School in 1958 and married Reva Egger on July 22, 1961. He was employed by Rawlings Sporting Goods of Ava, MO for 38 years. After retirement, he continued to work farming with his son at Wasola where he was the "Herd Expert", knowing all the pertinent facts about each cow and calf in the herd. He spent his entire life in and around Ozark and Douglas Counties and would not have considered living anywhere else. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and his cows and reading and napping.

Alvin is survived by Reva, his wife of 53 years; three sons Kenny Thomas and wife Ann, Kevin Thomas and wife Cindy, Kurtis Thomas and wife Kelly all of Wasola, MO; two daughters Toni Thomas and husband James of Malvern, AR and Melissa Thomas of the home in Wasola; six grandchildren Jennifer and husband Denver, Markus, Kane, Kayla, Nicholas and Nathan; two great grandchildren Cooper and Cassidy; one sister Gay Burke; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; six sisters; and his granddaughter Amanda Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Halbert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Loftis Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening, December 7th from 5-7 p.m. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to either Loftis Cemetery, Franklin Grove Cemetery, or to the John 3:16 Ministries; 75 Holmes Rd.; Charlotte, AR 72522.
