Anthony Ver Hage Jr.
Anthony Ver Hage Jr., 82 years, 11 months, 14 days old, passed away April 13, 2018 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, Ava, MO.
Tony was born April 29, 1935 in Paterson, New Jersey to Anthony and Jennie (Van Lenten) Ver Hage.
Tony and Ellen Mae Armona were united in marriage on December 28, 1956 at Prospect Park, New Jersey. They were blessed with three sons.
Embodying qualities of bravery and commitment to public safety, Tony was a member of the of the Prospect Park Police Department where he served from 1956 to 1981 for a total of 25 years, the final 11 years of which he was Chief.
He was also a member of the Prospect Park Volunteer Fire Department for 11 years from 1957 to 1961 and then again in 1974 to 1981.
Chief Ver Hage leaves a lasting legacy for his many contributions to the community, keeping the Borough protected and secure. Mayor Mohamed T. Khairullah believes, "Chief Ver Hage comes from a long line of
public servants who have been serving our Borough since its inception. We send our deepest condolences to his family members in Prospect Park and around the nation."
Mayor Khairullah has ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff in memory of Chief Ver Hage.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Ellen in 1999.
Tony is survived by his sons, Chris and Deana, Ver Hage, Ava, MO, Mark and Karen Ver Hage, North Haledon, NJ, and Steve Ver Hage, Tallahassee, FL, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Tony's sisters, Doris and Marian and many other friends and relatives.
