Arlee I. (Dann) Murray,

Arlee Murray, 84, Ashland, Missouri, passed away with her family at her side on Monday, April 12, 2010. Arlee moved to Ashland from Ava 3 years ago to be near her daughter and granddaughter when her health declined. Arlee lived in Ava since 2001 moving from her longtime home in Thornfield, Missouri.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 with Rev. John Haskins officiating at the Clinkingbeard Chapel in Ava. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava with burial at Thornfield Cemetery

Arlee was born August 13, 1925 at Brown Branch, Missouri to Myrtle (Baxter) and Claude C. Dann. She graduated from Thornfield High School in 1942. Arlee married Marvin R. Murray in Mountain Home, Arkansas on March 15, 1946, shortly after Marvin was discharged from World War II and returned home from Germany.

Arlee was a retired elementary school teacher having taught for 38 years beginning in 1942 at Bethel in Taney County at age 16. She taught in rural schools in Taney and Ozark Counties and retired in 1983 from Ava Elementary School where she taught sixth grade for many years. She attended Southwest Missouri State College during summers and evenings and graduated from Drury College, Springfield.

Arlee was a member of the Thornfield General Baptist Church since 1948 where she served faithfully. She was a charter member of Theodosia Chapter #130, Order of the Eastern Star; Delta Kappa Gamma, Xi Chapter; Retired Teachers Association; and had served on the Thornfield Cemetery Committee.

Arlee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin in 1987, and brother Carl Dann. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia and son-in-law, George "Skip" Wills, Ashland, granddaughter, Breena and husband John Eric Eddy, and great-grandsons, Brant Michael and Denton Lee Eddy, Ashland. Also surviving are nieces Karen and Melvin Dunn, Pleasant Hope; and Kathy and Travis Bolen, Fair Play.

Memorials are suggested to the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield General Baptist Church, or memorial of donor's choice.
