ARTIE VAN CAVITT

Artie Van Cavitt, 81, a contented old fisherman, went to paradise at 7:56 a.m. on May 15, 2011 at his residence in Thornfield, MO with his family by his side. He died on his favorite porch in his chair. He was born on September 1, 1929 in Erath County, TX the son of Enoch and Annie (Sheily) Cavitt.

On June 9, 1951 he was united in marriage to Pat Sessom and to this union two children were born, Yvonna Strong and Clay Cavitt. They were married for almost 60 years. Artie worked for many years as a home builder. He was a member of the Gainesville church of Christ.

Artie was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. He is survived by one sister Joe Witt of Roberson, TX; his wife of 60 years, Pat Cavitt of Thornfield, MO; one daughter Yvonna Strong and husband Tracy; one son Clayton Cavitt and wife Carrie; granddaughter Chantelle Emerson and husband Chad; grandson Cole Cavitt; step grandsons Bud Vickory and Tammy, Kennet Zerkel, Landon Zerkel; step great grandson Sam Vickory; step great granddaughter Anna Vickory; three step great granddaughters Katie, Malissa and Michaela Emerson; step great grandson Colten Emerson; and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in the Oak Grove Cemetery with Halbert Smith officiating. A visitation will be Tuesday from 1-2 pm at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel in Gainesville, MO.
