Arvin Eugene "Gene" Schroeder Sr.

Arvin Eugene Schroeder, 83 years, 2 months, and 9 days old, passed to Heaven on August 17, 2015 at his home with his family by his side.

Gene was born June 8, 1932, in Savannah, MO, to Emil and Della Mae Schroeder.

On August 14, 1952, Gene married his beloved Velma Jackson in Jasper, AR. Gene was a resident of Norwood, MO for 38 years. Together they raised 11 children.

"Your here for a short time, and then the Good Lord takes you home for eternity" was what Gene used to say. Gene was a great man, loving husband and father, and worked very hard all his life on the farm and raising his family. He loved spending time doing mechanic work, building dune buggy's and working on cars for friends, family and the occasional stanger. He had a great sense of humor and always tried to find a reason to smile even in hard times. Gene loved each of us that he left behind with all his heart.

Gene was preceded by his parents, two daughters, Vickie Lynn and Peggy Sue and his wife, Velma, earlier this year.


Arvin is survived by nine children and their spouses, Arvin "Gene" Jr. & Betty Schroeder; Roanoke Rapids, NC, Connie & Don Ahlrich; Seymour, MO, Cathy & Rick Fish; Independence, MO; Ricky & Nikki Schroeder; Norwood, MO, David Dean & Connie Schroeder; Ava, MO, Jimmy Duane Schroeder; Denlow, MO, Bobby & Lori Schroeder; Macomb, MO, Tina Schroeder; Lexington, OK, and Emil Lee & Elizabeth Kathryn Schroeder; Norwood, MO. He is also survived by many grand and great-grand children and lots of friends and other family


Gene ...dad...grandpa...great-grandpa...you touched the hearts of so many people and you will forever be greatly missed.

Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
