Barbara Sue Breshears

Barbara Sue Breshears, 74 years, 3 months, 25 days old, passed away on September 22, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO with her family by her side.

Barbara was born May 27, 1943 in Ava, MO to Mack Gentry and Rena Mae Hampton Miller.

On Nov. 22, 1962 Barbara Sue Miller and Jack Wayne Breshears were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union they were blessed with three children, Preston, Delayna, and Teresa.

She was retired from working at the Douglas County Courthouse and for years she taught at the Ava Head Start. Barbara was a Christian and attended the Ava Assembly of God Church. In earlier years, she taught Sunday School for the children at the Basher Church. She served on the Dyer and Turkey Creek Cemetery Committee as Treasurer. In addition she served on the Douglas County Historical Society Board and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, baking, and crocheting scratchers. Barbara's love and joy was being with Jack and her family. Her legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Rena Mae, and great granddaughter, Alya Grace Barcus. She is survived by her husband, Jack of the home, three children and their spouses, Preston & Lisa   Breshears, Delayna & Terry Dry, and Teresa & Dwayne Nash, all of Ava, MO, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one sister and husband, Linda & Bob McCleary, one brother & wife, Robert & Susie Miller, many nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Barbara will be Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ava Assembly God Church, Ava, MO with burial following in the Dyer Cemetery, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Buddy Boyd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the Ava Assembly of God Youth Group, P.O. Box 1240, Ava, MO. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
