Barbara Sue Young

Mansfield, Missouri

Barbara Sue Young, 54 years, 4 months, and 1 day old, passed away on February 14, 2024 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri with her family by her side.

Barbara was born October 13, 1969 in Sparta, Illinois to Jimmy Ray and  Venie Mae (Aaron) Downey.

On June 30, 1990 Barbara and Tim Young were united in marriage at Marissa, IL and together were blessed with seven children.

Barbara had worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare in Ava. Her joy mostly was being a wife and mother.

Barbara loved doing craft work, such as wood burning and cup/shirt designing. She also delighted in crocheting.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; an infant baby girl, Elizabeth; two sisters, Leona Zanders and Margaret Taylor; three brothers, Dennis, David, and Carl Downey.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Tim; seven children, Alicia (Robert) Daniells, Kristen Cathcart, Deana Cathcart, Amy Cathcart, Timmy Cathcart, and Amber Cathcart; two grandchildren, Lila and Jade; siblings, Nancy Cahoon, Deanna Reichling, Mike Downey, Denver Downey, and Ricky Downey; her foster parents, Richard and Laurie VanBuren; nieces; nephews; and friends.

Cremation services for Barbara are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
