Basil Guy Haskins, Jr., 74 years, 4 months, and 26 days old, passed to Heaven on June 14, 2016 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO from a short battle with colon cancer.

Guy was born January 19, 1942 in Thornfield, MO to Basil Guy and Alma Ellen (Johnson) Haskins, Sr. He graduated from Ava High School.

Guy was a dairy and beef farmer for over 45 years. On August 18, 1963 Guy and Faith Goodnight were united in marriage in the Walnut Grove Church by the Rev. Tom Johnson, and to this union two children were born.

He was a Christian. He also served as caretaker of the Thornfield Cemetery for many years. When he was young, he loved to go with his Dad to area horse shows. He also enjoyed showing his Fox Trotters. Guy had coached elementary basketball and he was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He also loved watching all the old Westerns on TV. Most of all he loved being with his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandson.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents.


Guy is survived by his wife, Faith Haskins, Thornfield, MO, two children; Cindy Russell, Thornfield, MO, Phillip Haskins and wife, Dana, Marshfield, MO, seven grandchildren; Ashley, Andrew, Dillon, Christopher, Rebecca, Emily, and Logan, one great grandson, Brayden, one brother, Howard & Leah Haskins, Thornfield, MO, one sister, Annabelle Adams, Theodosia, MO, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Guy will be Friday, June 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, MO. Visitation will be Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor David Dye and Pastor Raymond Haden. Memorials may be made to Thornfield Cemetery or World Vision, P.O. Box 78481, Tacoma, WA 98481-8481. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
