Beatrice P. Luallen, 95 years, passed to heaven on October 19, 2010 at Maranatha Village, Springfield, MO.
Bea was born May 5, 1915 in Vanzant, MO to Carl and Dora (McGuire) Smith.
Bea was a resident of Ava most of her life. On December 20, 1937 Bea and Floyd Luallen were united in marriage and to this union two children were born, Leon and Dixie. Grandson, Jerry, was blessed to have been raised by Floyd and Bea.
Bea was a member of the Ava General Baptist Church. She was also a charter member of the Nubbin Ridge Extension Club and a member of the Mountain Grove Quilters. Over the years Bea accomplished making 88 quilts.
In her early years she was a Teacher. She also was a bookkeeper and secretary for Cooper Lumber Co. in Ava for several years and later retired as a Shipping Agent with Rawlings Sports Goods in Ava. Bea's hobbies were flower and vegetable gardening. She enjoyed teaching others the art of quilt making.
Bea was preceded by her parents, her husband, Floyd in 1991, a grandson, Greg Luallen, eight brothers and sisters.
Bea is survived by one son & wife, Leon & Nona Luallen, Saulsbury, TN, one daughter & husband, Dixie & Al Tuller, Buffalo, MO, four grandchildren, Jerry Luallen & wife, Janie, Springfield, MO, Rhonda Luallen, Moore, OK, Kerry Allen & fiance, Paula, Springfield, MO and Nikki Beezley & husband, Mike, Ozark, MO, four great grandchildren, Sadia (Tiffany) Luallen, Lakin Allen, Spencer Allen and Easton Beezley, one brother, Eugene Smith, El Paso, TX, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Bea will be Friday, 10:00 a.m. October 22, 2010, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Douglas County Public Library, Ava, MO.
