Bernice Elizabeth Steele, 92 years, 0 months, and 17 days old, passed away on February 21, 2014 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO.
Bernice was born February 4, 1922 in Squires, MO to Bailey and Ethel (Bunyard) Burton.
Bernice was a lifelong resident of the Ava community.
She worked in housekkeeping at Chastain's Nursing Home alongwith spending her years caring for the elderly and handicapped.
Bernice enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home.
She was a Christian and loved her Lord and Savior and her family.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ira Lavon Davis, a daughter, Sandra Stacy, an infant son, Aaron Leon Davis, one brother, Bill Burton and two sisters; Pauline Sellers Wilson and Bertha Haskins.
Bernice is survived by two children; Sue Melton and husband Bob, Ava, MO and Kenneth Steele, Ava, MO, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one sister, Dessie Buchanan and husband, Ivan, Ava, MO, other family and friends.
Funeral services for Bernice will be Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Raymond Haden. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
