Bernie Ray Hutchison

Ava, Missouri

Bernie Ray Hutchison, 87 years, 10 months, 27 days old, passed to Heaven on July 28, 2016 at Gainesville Health Care Center in Gainesville, MO with his wife, Lena by his side.

Bernie was born August 31, 1928 in Cold Springs, Missouri to George Hutchison and Minnie Mable (Reed) Hutchison.

In Bernie's early years, he worked as a Painter for the John Deere Co. in Illinois. After moving back home, he enjoyed farming and baling hay with his wife, Margaret. In later years, Bernie retired from working at Emerson Electric in Ava.

On Aug. 31, 1951 Bernie and Margaret were united in marriage in Lebanon, MO. She preceded in death in 1983. In 1986 Bernie and Ella Davis were united in marriage in Ava, MO. She also preceded in death. In later years on Jan. 3, 2009 Bernie and Lena Marlin were united in marriage in Ava.


Bernie was a Christian and a member of the Skyline Full Gospel Church. He had attended and worked in many churches. He enjoyed serving the Lord! He loved singing and playing in the band with his mandolin. His joy was mentoring young Christians and many of them were called to serve in the ministry.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Margaret & Ella, three brothers, Branford, Lee Fay, and Ransell Hutchison, and one half brother, Lloyd Wayne Hutchison.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Lena of the home in Ava, four step children & their spouses; Kay & Larry Pierce, Mary "Winky" & Dewayne Stephens, Steve & Denise Maggard all of Ava, MO and Toby Marlin, Marshfield, MO, three step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, two brothers and their spouses: Leva Wilburn & Louise Hutchison, Norwood, MO, Manuel & Sue Hutchison, Lost Nation, Iowa, five half brothers and their spouses; Floyd & Gail Hutchison, Alabama, Glen Ray Hutchison, Davenport, IA, Terry Hutchison, Davenport, IA , Mike & Kerrie Hutchison, Blue Grass, IA, and Gary Hutchison, Ozark, MO, three half sisters and their spouses; Kathy Blew, Davenport, IA, Marilyn & Chris Wolford, Blue Grass, IA, and Vivian & Randy Moore, Buffalo, IA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Bernie will be Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Evansdale Cemetery east of Ava. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Grisham and Rev.Victor Murdy. Memorials may be made to donors choice of charity.
