Bessie Hall, 89 years, passed to heaven on December 25, 2012 at Heart of the Ozarks, Ava, MO with her family by her side.
Bessie was born May 10, 1923 in Trail, MO, to Louie Calvin and Laura (Hicks) Tate.
Bessie was a lifelong resident of Douglas and Ozark Counties.
On August 29, 1941, Bessie and Van Hall were united in marriage in Gainesville, MO and to this union two children were born. Bessie and Van owned and operated Hall's Grocery in Ava for several years.
Bessie was a Christian and a member of the Mt. Tabor General Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing with Jewell, Jo, and Kay. She attended Chitter Chatter meetings in Mt. Grove where she enjoyed visiting with her many friends. When she was younger, Bessie also liked to square dance.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Van Hall, and her parents, Louie Calvin and Laura (Hicks) Tate. She was also preceded by two sisters, Ines Tate and Marie Hicks.
Bessie is survived by two children and their spouses, a son J.C. Hall and Vicky Burnett, and a daughter, Jewell Elliott and spouse Harley (Tom), both of Ava, five grandchildren, Jeff Elliott, James Elliott, Bonita Winingham, Lisa Johnson, and Tim Hall, eight great-grandchildren, Shaun Elliott, Joseph Elliott, Stephen Johnson, Ashley Elliott, Caitlin Elliott, Jesse Johnson, Lauren Hall, and Hunter Hall, three great-great grandchildren, MaKayla Elliott, Logan Elliott, and Owen Elliott, two sisters, Lucy Forrest of Millry, AL, and Loetta Hall of West Plains, MO, two brothers, George Tate of Purcell, MO, and Lloyd Tate of Ava, as well as
many nieces, nephews and a multitude of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Bessie will be Thursday, December 27th, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Raymond Haden . Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Cemetery or Mt. Tabor Church.
