Remembrance of Life
In Loving Memory of Betty Marie Lehman
Betty Marie Lehman, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully in her home in Tecumseh, Missouri, on July 27, 2026, following a long and courageous health battle. Born on September 6, 1956, in Danville, Illinois, she was the daughter of Frank Owen Brewer and Esther Joan (Larkin) Brewer. Betty spent the majority of her childhood on her family's farm near Rankin, Illinois, where she first developed her lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. During her freshman year of high school, her family relocated to Cabool, Missouri, to be closer to relatives. It was there, at Cabool High School, that Betty met the love of her life, John Lehman. The high school sweethearts were married in June 1974, immediately following graduation, embarking on a beautiful 52-year journey together. John and Betty spent several years in Cabool raising their two sons, Jason and Jeremy. Later in life, they moved around the state before happily settling in Tecumseh, Missouri. Betty was a deeply devoted mother, and she carried immense pride in both of her sons' military service.
Betty was a vibrant soul who truly never met a stranger. She had a unique gift for conversation and loved speaking with anyone she crossed paths with, making those around her feel instantly welcome and valued. She deeply cherished visiting with her lifelong friends, maintaining those special bonds across the miles and years.
A woman with a remarkable green thumb, Betty was an avid gardener who poured her heart into her flower and vegetable gardens. Spending time outdoors was one of her greatest passions. Even as her health deteriorated, she found peace sitting outside, watching the hummingbirds visit her beautifully tended flowers and feeders. She also loved all of the family dogs she cared for over the years.
Above all else, Betty treasured her family. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and was their biggest cheerleader, attending their sporting and academic events to support them. When her health prevented her from being there in person, she eagerly awaited every update.
Betty is survived by her loving husband, John Lehman of Tecumseh, MO; her son Jason Lehman (Brandy) of Smithville, MO; and her son Jeremy Lehman (Sherry) of Mount Vernon, MO. Her memory and legacy will live on in her eight beloved grandchildren: Ella, Evan, and Eli Lehman of Smithville, MO; Christian, Julia, and Kyndal Holderby of Smithville, MO; and Owen and Allison Lehman of Mount Vernon, MO.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. A remembrance of life for Betty will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 1-3 pm at the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church, 985 MO-181, Cabool, MO 65689.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
