IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty
Rose
March 27, 1931 – August 9, 2021
On August 9, 2021, Betty Jo Evans Rose went to her eternal home where she found her contentment, hearing, and complete health. Most importantly she met her Saviour, Jesus Christ. She was born March 27, 1931, at Peel, Arkansas, to Nora L. Evans, Meme. She was Meme's baby girl and the sister to Harm, Nadine, Glen, Leon, Bonnie, and Mary.
On August 8 or 9, 1948, she married Orin Sylvester Rose at Henry and Sadie Billings' house on White River at Old Midway, Arkansas, before it became Bull Shoals Lake. Betty always said she was married on the 8th. Orin always said they were married on his birthday, August 9. Ironically, Betty joined Orin in heaven on what would have been his 96th earthly birthday.
Betty lived in Peel her whole life and created a home that the family treasures even today. She worked outside the home, some, at the Shirt Factory and Baxter Lab, but mostly she was a homemaker, cook, maid, and farm hand. Raising her kids and taking care of all the chores genuinely brought Betty joy.
She was a physically and emotionally strong woman. She peeled bark from black haw trees and cut cedar using a hand-held cross cut saw with her moma, Meme, dug and sold mussels, milked cows, fed (and butchered) hogs, bottle fed calves, killed (and fried) lots of chicken, gardened, canned, and cooked breakfast, lunch, supper and cornbread everyday. There was never a baby that was brought into her sight that did not get her excited and make Betty smile as big as she could smile. Babies, family, and the noise that came with those things were what made her feel complete. Her door was always open and ready to accept anyone, and you never left without being asked if you would like to eat. Her love for her kids and family would never be questioned.
Her faith was even stronger. Her love for Christ and devotion to Him was always known. She would be at church every time the building was open right there in her front yard. She carried hot coals from her home's wood stove and started the wood stove in church every time a fire was needed in church. She cooked 75% of the food for every church potluck. She prayed fervently for her husband, kids and grandkids. She desired with her whole being for ALL her family to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Betty, Moma, Grandma is survived by her: sister Bonnie Evans Richey of Lead Hill; sister-in-law Bonnie June Evans of Newport, Washington; son-in-law Danny Billings of Noble, MO; son Roger Rose and wife Beverly of Peel, AR; daughter Sylvia Owens and husband Frank of West Fork, AR; son Jerry Rose of Lakeview, AR; son Randy Rose and wife Paula of Noble, MO; daughter Kary Duffy and husband Kevin of Yellville, AR; and daughter Shauna Price and husband Byron of Salem, AR; 20 grandkids; 28 great grandkids; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Harm, Nadine and Glen (who died in childhood), brother Eulice Leon Evans, sister Mary Evans Smith, husband Orin Rose, daughter Virginia "Jenny" Billings, and grandson Kymball Duffy.
