William E. (Bill Ed) Rose, 88, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010 at his home. He was born September 4, 1921 to Roy and Esther (Blisard) Rose in Gainesville, MO. He lived and farmed his entire life in Ozark County. He was a member of the Smith Chapel Church of Christ for over 50 years.
Throughout his life he produced broiler chickens in the 1950's and a large hog operation in the 1970's and 80's, but his love was always the cows and calves that he produced from the age of 12 until his passing. He saw many changes in his life from going to town with a team and wagon and plowing with a horse to farming with an air conditioned tractor. He was also a veteran of WWII serving in Germany. He loved to travel with his family seeing the many wonders of the great American West.
He is survived by his wife Colene of 58 years and son Paul of Gainesville, MO; two grandchildren Casey McGee and significant other Terry Roberts of Ozark, MO and Chris McGee and his wife Jenifer of Ozark, MO; one nephew Richard Terry of Gainesville, MO; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Carma McGee, sister Alice Bayless, and one nephew Bill Terry.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, April 12, 2010 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO with Vic Williams officiating. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2-4pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Smith Chapel Cemetery or Fairhaven Children's Home and can be left at the funeral home.
