Hugh John 'Bud' Daugherty

Bud Daugherty was born in Dewey, Oklahoma on August 18, 1932 the son of Hugh and Mabel Norene Alsup Daugherty and departed this life on January 27, 2009 in Willow Springs, Mo. At the age of 76 Years 5 Months and 9 Days.
Bud was raised by his maternal grandparents Logan and Tennie Alsup whom he lovingly called Pa and Granny. As a boy he learned the value of a good dog and a good horse and used that knowledge through out his life. He became known through the land as the go to trainer for pointers and won national acclaim in field trials. He trained dogs in Saskatchewan Canada for many years. He retired in 1982 and moved back to Missouri. Bud's first marriage was to Geraldin Edgar and they had 5 children, after her passing he married Ella May LeRoy in 1994 and they lived in Gentryville area until his passing. Bud loved hunting, fishing, Blue Grass music, and Square Dancing, traveling to Washington, DC with Edna Mae Davis and Bob Holt to perform.
Bud is survived by his wife Ella May of Gentryville, three sons, John and his wife Kay of Russellville, Arkansas, Patrick and his wife Lucy of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Andy and his wife Sharlene, og Grove Springs, Oklahoma, and a daughter Marie and her husband James Carter, of Wagoner, OK, three step daughters, Patty and Joe Stephens, of Galena, MO., Debbie Hutchison of Moberly, MO. And Tracy and David Griffith of Thornfield, MO. Seven Grand children, Olivia, James, Michael, Melissa, Vanessa, Jennifer, and Andrea. Also 6 step grandchildren, Jamie, Aaron, Josh, Shelby, Hannah, and Devin, and 10 great grandchildren.
Bud was preceded by his parents, grand parents, a daughter Debra and a brother Patrick.
Funeral services for Bud will be Saturday January 31, at 2:00 P.M. in Clinkingbeard chapel with burial in the Hurst Cemetery at Gentryville. Visitation will be Sat. from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at the funeral home.
