ARTHUR DOYLE HERD

Arthur Doyle Herd, better known as Buddy,94, of Thornfield, MO was born on New Year's Day, 1924 near Isabella, MO and passed from this life on January 19, 2018 at his residence. He was the son of Austin and Carrie (Capehart) Herd.

On February 19, 1947 Buddy married Vernice Jones in Mountain Home, AR. To this union one son was born, Gary Herd. In over 34,300 days on this earth Buddy spent nearly all of it within a mile and a half of his birthplace. Buddy was the 4 ^th generation of his family to live in Ozark County.  He spent his whole life farming and loved his family more than anything. Buddy was a Christian and taught his family to love the Lord. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Buddy is survived by his wife Vernice of the home; one son Gary Herd and wife Carol of Thornfield, MO; one granddaughter Gina Hawkins of Tecumseh, MO; one great granddaughter Sarah Beth Hawkins of Tecumseh; three sisters Fern Gray of Fair Grove, MO, Geneva Stewart of Ava, MO and Wilma Mabrey of Arlington, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents Austin and Carrie Herd; and one sister Evelyn Presley.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Dale Roberts officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon from 1 p.m. to service time. Burial will be in the Thornfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Thornfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
