Burney Lakey

Burney Lakey, 72 years, 9 months, 3 days old, passed away on February 15, 2024 at his home .

Burney was born May 12, 1951 in Springfield, Missouri to Lloyd and Mable (Loftin) Lakey.

On June 12, 1976  Burney and Norma McKnight were united in marriage in Girdner, Missouri.   Together they had one daughter, Amber.

Burney retired from the Douglas County Road and Bridge department after working as a road grader operator for thirty two years. He loved to visit with friends and family.  Burney enjoyed being outdoors and especially like to hunt, and fish.  He liked to camp and often spent time at his cabin.

Burney was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Leila (Glen) Riggs, Mary Ann (George) Wheeler, Lyle Lakey, Troy Lakey,

Burney is survived by his wife, Norma; daughter, Amber Lakey; grandchildren, Annabel, Atlas, and Zoey; brother, Kenneth Lakey and sister Brenda (Ronald) Potter; a host of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to best friend and neighbor, Rick Tate; special niece and hunting buddy, Valarie Easley; brother in law and hunting partner, Robert "Doc" McKnight.

Cremation services for Burney are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Missouri.
