CALLA RENE MATHY
Calla Rene Mathy, 99, of Gainesville, MO passed away July 6, 2019 at Gainesville Healthcare Center surrounded by family. Calla was at peace with God and ready for her heavenly home. Calla overcome many trials and struggles in her life. Always tackling hard times with a smile, while letting all know "everything was possible with the Lord by her side." She was born February 10, 1920 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, daughter of Charlie Carter and Maude (Stephens) Carter.
She graduated West Platte High School in 1938 at Weston, MO; where the large Carter family had relocated from Kentucky. Calla's father was a sharecropper and farmer. It was growing up knowing hard work, that Calla stated, created her toughness. Calla loved fishing, gardening, listening to gospel music, and spending time with family and friends. Calla was also one of the oldest members and officer of Weston, Missouri's American Legion Post.
Calla retired from Thompson Hayward Chemical Co. in the late 1980's. She also demonstrated food at local stores while living in Mesa, AZ.
Calla was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; daughter, Raydene Leser; son, Douglas Lindsey; brothers, Brooks Carter, Estil Carter, Bill Carter, and sister, Gertrude Siler. She is survived by one sister, Jeri Orr and husband Orville of Granada Hills, CA; six grandchildren, Kim Sullivan and husband Rocky of Gainesville, MO, Karla Eslinger and husband David of Wasola, MO, Jeff Lamar of Gainesville, MO, Jamie Dye and husband Bob of Lakeside, AZ, April Myler of Phoenix, AZ, and Joni Lindsey of Phoenix, AZ. Calla was blessed with twelve great grandchildren; and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
Calla Rene has left us with many memories and laughter. When asked how she was feeling, her comment was………..." I am Perfect", while she was pointing to the sky. This was her signature pose. She was a shooting star that we shall see again, this we know through Jesus.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Dale Roberts officiating. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in the Lutie Cemetery, Theodosia, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutie Cemetery.
