CALVIN GUY WATSON
Calvin Guy Watson of Wasola, MO passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the age of 88 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO. He was born December 31, 1923 to Oscar and Beulah (Rodgers) Watson in Healy, KS.
He proudly served his country in World War II as a Corporal and was awarded the Purple Heart and various campaign medals.
He and the love of his life, Jean Hawkins, were married in West Plains, MO on February 10, 1952. They built a beautiful life in their corner of the world working side by side on their cattle farm. It was total joy for him. He was honored with the accomplishment of having the National Grand Champion Polled Hereford bull in 1986.
He is survived by his daughter, Marsha Evans and husband Keith, of Springfield, MO; his granddaughter Tara McConnaughy and great granddaughter Jayden of Springfield, MO; his grandson Travis McConnaughy and wife Sarah of Wasola, MO; two step grandsons, James Evans and family of Gainesville, MO and Dusty Evans and family of West Plains, MO; one sister, Nellie Termin and husband Kenneth of Springfield, MO; and very special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his parents, Oscar and Beulah Watson; two brothers, Chester Watson and Roy Watson; and two sisters, Vernie Eslinger and Mae Long.
Funeral services for Calvin will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Jim Kyle officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
