Carl J. Peak

Carl James Peak, 70 years, 9 months, and 25 days old, passed to Heaven on August 8, 2014 at his home with his family by his side.
Carl was born October 14, 1943 in Ava, MO to Arvil and Lilly (Holman) Peak.
Carl and Kay Bice were united in marriage on January 31, 1965 in Ava by Pastor John Moles and to this union two daughters, Carolyn and Sheila were born. Carl and Kay were soon to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Carl was a retired Fireman and served for 20 years with the Springfield Fire Dept. Prior to he worked as a volunteer with the Ava Fire Dept. and was the Water & Sewer Superintendent with the City of Ava for many years. He also had worked for Medi-Transit for over 19 years in Springfield. Carl was a Christian. He was baptized when he was nine years old. He and Kay attended the Ava General Baptist Church.
Carl believed in helping and saving lives and it showed by his 20 years of donating his blood to the American Red Cross. He also loved running and believed in staying physically fit. He had the opportunity to participate in 20 marathons. Carl was a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed collecting Case knives, coins and fire fighting memorabilia. He loved being outside and working around his home and gardening.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne Peak.
Carl is survived by his wife, Kay, of the home, daughters, Carolyn Wages and husband, Richard, Gainesville, MO and Sheila Ursery and husband Alan, Poplar Bluff, MO, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a brother, Larry Peak, Ava, MO, two sisters, Sharon Wise, Ava and Carol Waddles, Homewood, KS, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Carl will be Monday, August 11, 2014, 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Huffman Cemetery near Mt. Zion on County Road 510. Carl will be honored with the Last Call by Springfield Fire Dept. at the cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn.
