Carol E. McClendon, 86, of Gainesville, MO passed away December 28, 2023 at the Gainesville Healthcare Center. She was born September 10, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Jacob and Bertha (Fredericksen) Gordon.

Carol grew up in Geneva, Illinois and graduated from Geneva High School. On February 1, 1957 she was united in marriage to Walter McClendon. After working and raising their family in Illinois, the couple moved to Gainesville in 1998 to enjoy their retirement years. Carol enjoyed painting, working in the yard, and tending to her flowers. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter McClendon and her parents, Jacob and Bertha Gordon. She is survived by two sons Patrick McClendon of Gainesville, MO, Michael McClendon and wife Tracy of Crane, MO; two grandchildren Jacob McClendon and Aaron McClendon; three great grandchildren Noah, Addi & Mason; one sister Gayle Johnson of Cobden, IL, and one brother Gary Gordon and wife Vickie of Mt Dora, Fl.
