Carol Ann Rhoades

Mansfield, Missouri

Carol Ann (Casaday) Rhoades, daughter of Kenneth D. Ruth E (Newman) Casaday was born on October 10, 1933, in St. Joseph, Missouri, and passed away in her home with her family by her side on April 19, 2026, at the age of 92.

As a young girl her family moved to Norwood, Missouri where she lived until she graduated high school. Carol then moved to California where she worked as a telephone operator, later transferring to Kansas City and finally Springfield, Missouri.

She married Jess Rhoades in 1956 and lived in Mansfield, Missouri, helping on their farm as well as working for MFA Agri Service for 32 years. In 1961 Jess and Carol welcomed their son, Phillip. A few years later they bought the land and built the house where she lived for the rest of her life. Carol loved looking out her windows and seeing the cattle and deer on the property.

As a teenager, Carol gave her life to the Lord Jesus and lived faithfully for him. She is a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Mansfield, Missouri, where she served faithfully for nearly 70 years.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Rhoades, and her parents, K.D. and Ruth Casaday.

Carol is survived by her son, Phillip Rhoades and his wife, Rhonda of Carthage, Missouri; four grandchildren, Danielle Nash (Zach) of Leawood, Kansas, Amber Wistuba (Caleb) of Holland, Michigan, Jacob Rhoades (Alyssa) of Gardner, Kansas and Kaitlyn Richard (Dan) of Mansfield, Missouri and five great-grandchildren; Finley, Sam and Genevieve Nash and Clayton and Wyatt Rhoades; one sister, Patsy Rhoades of Houston, Missouri; many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

Carol was a wonderful cook and hostess. She always had a sweet treat to share whenever anyone came to her home. She was always ready for a party or game night. She enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren, but she showed no mercy on them with her competitive spirit. Her sense of humor showed clearly to the end of her days, and she will be greatly missed.

The family would like to say thank you to Everhome Hospice, Joy Stearnes, and Kelly Eagleston for taking wonderful care of Carol during this time.

Funeral services for Carol will be Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of the Nazarene,1845 Hwy. B, Mansfield, MO. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Terry Buchanan and Pastor Justin Colston. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to True North Church of the Nazarene Children’s Camp Fund, 2014 Grand Ave., Carthage, MO 64836.
