Carol Ann Simmons, 61 years, 9 months, 11 days old, passed away on July 1, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.

Carol was born September 21, 1955 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Gordon William and Anna Lee (Pitcock) Simmons.

Carol was a Christian and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ava, MO.


Carol really enjoyed teaching and spending time with children. She spoke a couple different languages which allowed her to spend several years in South America teaching people in several countries.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, Gordon William Simmons and uncle, John North.

Carol is survived by her mother, Anna Lee Whisnant, one brother, Gary and Agnes Simmons, two sisters, Janet Simmons and Nettie Iske, three uncles, Bill Pitcock, Jim and June Pitcock, and Thomas and Mary Pitcock and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Carol will be Friday, July 7, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ava, MO. Burial will be at the Sims Cemetery in Gainesville, Mo. Visitation starts Friday at 2:00 pm to service time at the church. Officiating will be Bishop Carlton Barrus and Brother Dale Roberts.

Memorials may be made to the family as a love offering.
