Charlene Tew Bennett, 86 years, 1 month, and 26 days old, passed to Heaven on December 30, 2015 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center in Ava.
Charlene was born November 4, 1929 in Ocala, Florida to David Lee and Arretta (Beck) Sheppard. She was a retired Seamstress for a clothing factory in Ocala, FL, where she lived most of her life. Charlene and Hubert Tew were united in marriage in 1946 and to this union four children were born.
Later in life she married William Bennett and together they enjoyed traveling. She was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.
Charlene was a big Florida Gator football fan. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, doing crafts, and most of all spending time with her grandkids.
When her health started to fail, she moved to the Ava area to live with her granddaughter and husband, Deana & Chris Verhage. They were her loving caregivers.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Hubert Tew and William Bennett, three children; Gerri Ann, June and Ricky and a son-in-law, James Cox.
Charlene is survived by her daughter, Patricia Cox, Ocoee, FL, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one brother, Ernest Sheppard, Bell, FL, one sister, Saundra Weaver, Texas and other relatives and friends.
Cremation services for Charlene are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
