Charlene Virginia Merritt, 78 years, 4 months, and 16 days old, passed to Heaven on February 25, 2016 at her home with her daughters and family by her side.

Charlene was born October 9, 1937 in Taney County, MO to Irvin and Dora (Lee) Dollarhide.

Charlene was retired from Emerson Electric in Ava. She had worked there for over 16 years.

On August 14, 1954 Charlene and Voyne Leroy Merritt were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union four daughters were born.

Charlene was a Christian and had attended church when able. Charlene loved to "piddle" around the house and yard. She enjoyed playing games with her children and grandchildren when they were young. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Voyne in 2005, a daughter, Virginia, and a brother, Russell Dollarhide.


Charlene is survived by three daughters, Vicky Burnett & J.C.Hall, Ava, MO, Sue Goin & Gale, Oldfield, MO, and Verna Willhaus & Shannon, Ava, MO, five grandchildren; Travis Burnett, Melissa Burnett, Corey Goin, Colby Goin and Tyler Kelley, eight great grandchildren; Colton, Coy, Alyson, Wyatt, Haylun, Kelbey, Cabot, and Kylie; four brothers, one sister, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Charlene will be Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Dyer Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 28th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Hall. Memorials may be made to the family as a love offering or to Dyer Cemetery.
