Charles Carroll Bogart, 72 years, went home to heaven on November 27, 2009 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO.

Charles was born July 19, 1937 in Wright County, MO to Ernie and Thursia (Findley) Bogart.

In 1998, Charles and Norma Willis Hampton were united in marriage in Eureka Springs, AR.

Charles was a resident of Ava for 11 years moving from Little Rock, AR. He was born and raised on a farm in Wright County near Mansfield, MO, where he grew up. He was a 1957 graduate of Mansfield High School. During his Senior year he joined the Navy and coming home on leave he graduated with his class. In the Navy, he served four years on the USS Brinkley Bass DD887. After returning home from the Navy, he worked as a truck driver for Arnall Lumber in Hartville, MO. Then later he worked for Erickson Transport in Springfield. He retired in 1999 after 33 years from ABF Freight Systems with over three million miles without a chargeable accident.

Charles was a member of the Teamster Union Local #878, Little Rock, AR, a lifetime member of the Ava VFW Post #5993, the Mansfield American Legion Post #128, Ava Masonic Lodge #26, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Joplin, MO and a Shriner of Springfield, MO. Charles was recently Saved and was a Christian.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Maxine Bogart, a baby sister, Shirley, his first wife, Bonnie Welton Bogart, the mother of his children and his second wife, Lillian Mincks Bogart.


Charles is survived by his wife, Norma Willis Bogart, Ava, MO, a daughter, Karolee Jewert & husband, Mike, Chaffee, NY, two sons, Joe Dwayne Bogart, Ava, MO, & John Wayne Bogart, Virden, IL, two step sons, Mike Hampton & wife, Lana, Ava, MO, Jerry Hampton & wife, Kim, Rogersville, MO, a step daughter, Gayla Hampton, Ava, five grandchildren, Austin & Lakin Bogart, Chelsie & Katie Bogart and Jake Jewert, seven step grandchildren, Lacy, Trampus & Kelsey Hampton, Bailey & Garrett Hampton and Dustin & Zach Lafferty, a step great granddaughter, Chloe Hampton, whom always brought a smile to his face and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Charles will be Monday, November 30, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Wolf Creek Cemetery, Macomb, MO. Visitation will be Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
