Charles Benjamin Cooper, son of Dudley Cooper and Minnie Bell Young Cooper was born July 11, 1920 in Keytesville, Missouri and departed this life July 29, 2008 at the age of 88 years and 18 days.

On Feb. 18, 1944 Charles and Dorothea Marie Kronyak were united in marriage in Port Angeles, Washington. Charles and Dorothea were blessed with two children. Charles owned and operated a grocery store and was an entrepreneur.

Charles was a resident of Douglas County, MO for the past 43 years. He served his country during WWII with the U.S. Coast Guard. Charles helped lead the Democratic Committee in Douglas County for several years and later his son, Chuck took over. Charles was a member of the Mtn. Grove VFW and the American Legion.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothea. He is survived by one daughter, Charlene Stahlman, Rogersville, MO, two grandchildren, two step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, one great, great granddaughter, two brothers, Virgil Cooper, Elkhart, IN and Chester Elwood Cooper, Auxvasse, MO, one sister, Vera Baker, Florida and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services for both Charles and Chuck will be 2:00 P.M. Sat. Aug. 2, 2008 at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with the Rev. Robert Roberts officiating. Visitation is Sat. 1:00 p.m. to service time. Interment for Charles will follow in the Hurst Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
