Charles Edward "Chuck" Spurlock

Charles Edward Spurlock, 89 years, 7 months, and 25 days old, passed to Heaven on February 5, 2016 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO.

Chuck was born June 11, 1926 in Squires, MO to Charles Monroe and Stella Adeline (Kennedy) Spurlock. He was the first child delivered by Dr. Marvin Gentry. He graduated from Ava High School.

Chuck and Ruby Irene Chaney were united in marriage on April 2, 1949 at Mtn. Home, AR. They were blessed with five children. Chuck was a retired Forest Assistant for the Missouri Conservation Dept. in Douglas County for many years and was a farmer.

He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. As a young man he was saved at Black Oak General Baptist Church.

Chuck enjoyed fishing and caring for his cattle. Most of all he loved being with his family, all the family!

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruby in 1982, nine siblings, Fred and John Spurlock, Lula Kellogg, Velma Davis, Mary "Sis" Turner, Elsie Estes-Russell, Maude Robertson, Ethel Warden, and Lela Nash.

Chuck is survived by his children and their spouses, Jerry & Judy Spurlock, Nixa, MO, Rick & Sheila Spurlock, Ozark, MO, Carolyn & Gary Wolfe, Huntsville, AL, Linda & Richard Detweiler, Ashland, OR and Dr. Joe & Mona Spurlock, Eldorado, KS, 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Chuck will be Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Fannon Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12:30 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Marvin Loftin. Memorials may be made to Fannon Cemetery.
