CHARLES R. MADDOX

Charles R. Maddox, 78, of Gainesville, MO passed away on March 9, 2014 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, AR. He was born on December 9, 1935 in Kansas City, KS the son of George Joseph and Nora Ann (Standage) Maddox.

On December 22, 1956 Charles was united in marriage to Loretta Sue Hicks. To this union three sons were born, Eddie Lee, Bobby Joe & Dennis Wayne Maddox. Charles worked in construction all of his life until he retired. He worked on dams in Oregon, Idaho and Arkansas in his earlier days. He then settled back in Gainesville where he built homes in the Missouri/Arkansas area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and playing his guitar. But most of all he enjoyed his time with his family. Charles was a Christian. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents George and Nora Ann Maddox and two sons Eddie Lee Maddox and Dennis Wayne Maddox. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Sue Maddox; one son Bobby Maddox and wife Kelly of Gainesville, MO; two grandsons Heath Maddox and wife Kelly and Kyle Maddox; two sisters Wilma Roberts and Mary McFarland and husband Ray; along with many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Halbert Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Howards Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. The family asks that memorials be given to Fair Haven Children's Home, 3132 N. Fair Haven Loop, Strafford, MO 65757 or to the Howards Ridge Cemetery.
