CHARLES "LEO" THOMPSON

Immediate burial for Charles "Leo" Thompson age 76 of Theodosia, MO was held at the Isabella Cemetery on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.

He passed to Heaven on July 24th in the Gainesville Health Care Center. He was born November 1, 1940 in Tecumseh, MO the son of Elvis and Florence Hambelton Thompson. On August 17, 1963 in Isabella, MO he married Evelyn Wallace.

They made their home in Harrisonville, MO for several years where he worked at Haven Steel in Kansas City, MO as a welder. They returned to Ozark County in the late 70's to make their home in Theodosia, MO at Peter Cave Hollow. He started his own welding business, Thompson Welding. He later went to work at Hodgson Mill in the maintenance department as a welder to repair the huge grain silos and keeping the lines running properly and retired from there. Leo was a very loving, sweet and gentle person and a man of few words that everyone enjoyed being around. He loved to tell his grandson Austin stories of growing up in the Dawt area. He would tell them and laugh and rub his hands together, shake his head and say now those were the days!! Those who knew him well knew he was very set in his ways, independent and a bit stubborn at times but that smile was one of a kind. He enjoyed collecting knives of all shapes and sizes and had a beautiful collection. He liked to keep the road hot with his two trips a day to town, which he did until he became sick. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include sons: Stacy Charles Thompson of Bakersfield, MO, Shawn Leo Thompson and wife Christy, his grandson Austin who he was so proud of, all of Hardenville, MO; brother Doug Thompson and wife Charlene of Henderson, TN; brothers-in-law Don Mallow of Dewey, OK, Don Tillman of Kansas City, MO, Jimmie Wallace and wife Marilyn, Harold Wallace all of Isabella, MO, Marlin Wallace and wife Roxann of Theodosia, MO, sister-in-law Peggy Thompson of Kansas City, MO; many nieces and nephews and special neighbors and friends Bonnie and Randy Edwards.
