Charles Elmo Wright 93 years, 1 month, 9 days old, passed away on August 31, 2016 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO with his family by his side.
Charles was born July 22, 1923 in Hammond, MO to Raymond & Lottie (Green) Wright.
Charles was a Army Veteran and served during WWII and the Korean War. Charles was a Purple Heart recipient.
On December 7, 1962 Charles and Mattie Sally Ward were united in marriage in Oak Grove, MO.
He was a retired Engineer with Aerospace NWC in Ridgecrest, CA.
Charles was a Christian and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Ava. He was also a member of the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112 and Ava VFW Post #5993.
Charles enjoyed tinkering with electronics that neighbor's and friend's would bring him like tv's, radio's and etc. He also loved eating out and visiting with friends and family. Charles enjoyed walking his dog, Duke.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sally in 2010, a son, Michael Carter, and one brother, Phillip Wright.
Charles is survived by two sons and their spouses, Therman & Kassie Carter, Green River, WY and Ernie & Linda Carter, Littlefield, AZ, three grandchildren, Karen, and Jennifer Carter, Jessica Miramontes & husband, Ray, two great grandsons, Jackson Carter Kirkpatrick and Noah James Miramontes.
Funeral services for Charles will be Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Visitation will Thursday, Sept. 8th from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Ava Cemetery, Ava, MO with full military honors by the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Roberts. Memorials may be made to the Troy Herd American Legion Post #112.
