Clarence Downing, 69 years, passed to heaven on October 13, 2010 at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, MO.

Clarence was born July 20, 1941 in Grand Junction, CO to Lawrence and Verleen (Pettijohn) Downing.

Clarence was a resident of Reeds, MO and formerly of Springfield, MO. He was a retired Professional Truck Driver for 37 years and had worked for Yellow Freight and Kraft Foods. Clarence was a member of the First Baptist Church, Sarcoxie, MO. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Springfield, MO.

He loved hunting with his sons and grandchildren, attending their ballgames, horse riding and going to rodeos. Clarence loved being outdoors and tending his yard.

Clarence was preceded by his parents and a brother, Lynn Downing.

Clarence is survived by three sons & their spouses, Ed & Norma Downing, Reeds, MO, Brett & Lorie Downing, Joplin, MO and Clarence Ruben & Vicki Downing, Sarcoxie, MO, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother, Charles Downing, Pierce City, MO, uncle, Buster Downing, Springfield, MO, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Memorial service will be Friday, 9:00 a.m. Oct. 15, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, Sarcoxie, MO and later in the afternoon same day a Graveside service 3:30 p.m. at the Turkey Creek Cemetery, Ava, MO with a Visitation before services at 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Rev. Sam Wilson and Rev. Danny Douglas. Memorials may be made to Salvation Army, Springfield, MO, First Baptist Church, Sarcoxie, MO or Sarcoxie School District.
