Clifford "Dean" Davis

Clifford Dean Davis, 87 years, passed away from a long illness on August 21, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.

Dean was born May 25, 1926 in Ava, MO to Enoch Lincoln and Anna Laura (Gunnels) Davis.

Dean was a lifelong resident of the Ava community. He was a Dairy and Beef Farmer. On October 16, 1948 Dean and Edna Mae Schuler were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, AR and to this union five children were born.

Dean was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a Christian and a member of the Ava General Baptist Church. Dean enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pitch and square dancing with Edna Mae. His passion, however, was farming.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Dean loved his family and loved to spend time with them.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edna Mae and a son Charles Dean.


Dean is survived by four children and their spouses, Donnie & Carolyn Davis, Bob & Trish Davis, Cindy Mae & Bill Heath and Cathy & Junior Marriott all of Ava, MO, 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five brothers and sisters, Eula Campbell, Clifton (Grace) Davis, Maxine (Norman) Rosseau, Glenda (Guy) Scott, and Bill (Darlene) Davis, all of Ava, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Dean will be Saturday, August 24, 2013, 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery with Military honors by Ava American Legion Post 112.Visitation will be SAT. from 9:00 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn and Pastor Ron Pinckney. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus (Mtn. Grove) or charity of choice.
