Connie Jo Cornelison

Connie Jo Cornelison, 48 years, passed to heaven on December 16, 2012 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO with her family by her side from a long battle with cancer.

Connie was born August 10, 1964 in Springfield, MO to Donald and Ethel May (Riley) Versaw. She graduated from Ava High School, Class of 82.

Connie was a lifelong resident of the Ava community. She had been the Manager for the Ava McDonald's for several years until her health kepted her from working. She also had worked at Pizza Hut as their Manager and at Casey's, Taco Bell and Wallace & Owens Grocery in Ava.



On November 19, 1982 Connie and Mancell Cornelison were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union two wonderful sons were born.

Connie was a Christian and was a member of the Cross Point Church and Ava Kiwanis. She enjoyed fishing, embroidery, knitting, Facebook/Farmville, mystery games, romance novels and she loved Eeyore and Marvin the Martian!
Her joy was being with all her family and her new baby grandson, Laurance.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law, Dallas Eugene Cornelison and her infant baby.


Connie is survived by her husband, Mancell Eugene Cornelison, Ava, MO, Jeremy Michael Cornelison & wife, Alexis, Springfield, MO and Willie Eugene Cornelison of the home in Ava, a grandson, Laurance Cornelison, her pet cat, Princess, three sisters, Teresa & Ron Tost, Donna & Tim Anderson, all of Ava, MO and Diana Versaw, Mansfield, MO, mother-in-law, Leta Cornelison and sister-in-law, Irene Cornelison, many nieces, nephews and a multitude of other family and friends.


Funeral services for Connie will be Friday, December 21, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Cross Point Church, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cross Point Church, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Ron Wallace. Memorials may be made to Neighbor Helping Neighbor, Ava Kiwanis for Kids or Back Pack Program, Ava R-I Schools.
