Cora Alean Sutherland

Cora Alean Sutherland, 95 years, passed away on March 15, 2010 at CMH in Bolivar, MO.

Cora was born January 15, 1915 in Toledo, MO to John and Ella (Lance) Burkdoll.

On September 9, 1935 Cora and Raleigh Sallee were united in marriage in Pond Fork, MO and he passed away in 1939. Later, on September 18, 1945 Cora and Earl Sutherland were united in marriage in Levenworth, KS and he also preceded in death in 1975.

Cora was a retired beautician. She lived in Pittsburg for 10 years and prior to that she lived in Kansas City, MO moving from Ozark County where she also lived for several years. She was a member of the Freedom Chapel Baptist Church in Urbana, MO. Cora loved gardening and wherever she lived she created beautiful surroundings.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Raleigh Sallee and Earl Sutherland, three brothers and three sisters.


Cora is survived by a sister, Stella Davis, Pittsburg, MO, a nephew & wife, Paul & Linda Davis, Pittsburg, MO, other nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.


Funeral services for Cora will be Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Freedom Chapel Baptist Church, Urbana, MO with burial at 3:00 p.m. in the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, MO. Visitation will be Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to service time in the church. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Walton. Memorials may be made to Freedom Chapel Baptist Church of Urbana, MO. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
