Coy V. Turner, 93 years, 10 months, and 14 days old, passed to heaven on October 4, 2011 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO.
Coy was born November 21, 1917 in Ozark County, MO to Alfred and Rose ( Taylor) Turner.
Coy was a dairy and beef farmer. He was a lifelong resident of Ozark County and Thornfield community. On Oct.4, 1941 Coy and Christene Wilson were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union three children were born.
Coy was a renowned horseshoe pitcher. He also enjoyed coon hunting, gardening and loved babysitting his grand and great grandchildren and working on his farm. He was a member of the Igo Church and had attended the Thornfield General Baptist Church.
Coy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Christene, his daughter, Evelyn Akers, three brothers, Sam, Linley and Nolan, four sisters, Mae, Eula, Maggie & Alma.
Coy is survived by a daughter, Venita "Judy" Robertson, Thornfield, MO, a son, Adrian Turner, Reed Springs, MO,10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, one brother, Leslie Turner, Thornfield, MO, one sister, Viola Clark, Washington state and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Coy will be Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Doyle Turner. Memorials may be made to Thornfield Cemetery.
