Curtis E. Sanders

November 6, 1924 - February 5, 2014

Curtis E. Sanders, 89, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, of Overland Park, Kansas went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2014. He was born in Oakland, Arkansas, raised in Pontiac, Missouri and graduated from Gainesville High School.

Curtis lived most of his life in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, where he was a member of Shawnee First Baptist Church.
Curtis was retired from Fairbanks Morse Co. after 36 years of service and a member of the United Steel Workers of America, Local 4991. He was a thirty second degree Mason and a member of the Wyandotte Masonic Lodge #3 for 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Josie Jearline Sanders, his parents, Hiram and Pearlie Sanders and his brother Clifford Sanders.

Curtis is survived by daughter, Gatha (Dean) Schleicher of Charlotte NC; son Michael (Lisa) Sanders of Olathe, KS; grandchildren Brian Schleicher of Charlotte NC; Mark Schleicher of Tucson AZ; Sara Sanders and Staci Sanders of Olathe, KS; great- grandchildren Hailey, Riley, Mackenzie and Bailey Schleicher.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 1:00p.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with Masonic rites to follow. Burial will be at Pontiac Cemetery, Pontiac, MO.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Aberdeen Village for their wonderful care. Memorial contributions may be made to Pontiac Cemetery, 743 State Highway MM, Gainesville, MO 65655.
