DALE WALTER BEARDSHEAR
Dale Walter Beardshear, age 97, of Gainesville, MO was born November 26, 1920 in Homer, NE and went to be with the Lord March 12, 2018 in Mountain Home, AR.
He was united in marriage to Wanda Norma Baumgarner on December 1, 1946 in Kansas City, MO.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Carla Boze and husband Douglas; granddaughter, Jamie Parrott and husband Rodney; great grandsons Samson and Orin Parrott; great granddaughter Onna Boze along with her mother and sister Blaine and Jaden Rybolt; two sisters Leah Hardy and Neva Nickum; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Walter and Mary Elizabeth (Nelson) Beardshear; one brother Lorn Beardshear; one sister Vera McCoy; and his grandson, Lucas Boze.
Following graduation from Homer High School in 1939, Dale helped in his dad's carpentry and honey businesses before joining the Army as a radio operator, serving in Okinawa and the Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war, he lived in Kansas City where he met Wanda at a church function. She had come with her brother, and Dale had brought a date. Dale wound up marrying Wanda, and her brother married Dale's date. Dale and Wanda then moved to Homer, NE where they adopted their infant daughter, Carla, 9 years later.
Dale owned and operated B&B Electronics from 1947 until the early 1970's when the family moved to West Plains, MO. He repaired televisions, radios and anything electronic. Dale and Wanda had many interests including square dancing at festivals in the streets of Sioux City, IA.
Dale and Wanda moved to Gainesville in the mid 1970's. He assisted Wanda in managing the Adult Boarding Home there. He also helped Wanda in her MOZARK Regional Orchestra activities. He enjoyed playing the piano and singing to his favorite sheet music such songs as "The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B" and "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree With Anyone Else But Me."
Dale was active in his church, Theodosia United Methodist Church, as long as his health allowed. In October 2011, Dale and Wanda travelled on the Springfield Honor Flight to Washington D.C. accompanied by Carla and Jamie.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Bro. Joby Steele officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from Noon to service time. Burial with Full Military Honors will be in the Lilly Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon's International or St Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
