Byron "Dale" Morrison, Sr., 93, formerly of Tecumseh, MO passed away on March 31, 2017 at the Neighborhoods of Quail Creek Rehab Center, Springfield, MO. He was born on April 27, 1923, in Tecumseh, MO the son of Hobart and Maye(Robinson) Morrison.
On December 17, 1945, he was united in marriage to Violet Miller in Mountain Home, AR. To this union one son was born, Byron. Dale enjoyed the farm life and his 35 years as a forest fire towerman with the Missouri Dept. of Conservation. Uncle Dale, as he was known to his 40 nieces and nephews, enjoyed telling stories about the family and was often the center point of many family gatherings.
He was a part-time fishing guide on Bryant and Northfork during the 50's and 60's. He made many life-long friends from those fishing trips. He enjoyed deer, turkey and quail hunting. Always looking forward to the annual deer hunt when family and friends would gather at the farm for the first weekend of deer season. For many years 14 hunters had varying degrees of success.
Dale was a great neighbor and friend to everyone. He often plowed the snow off the county roads out to PP Highway. One time a "new comer" asked him how much the county paid him to use his tractor and terracing blade to move the snow. He's still waiting for that first check.
Dale was a Chrsitian and a member of the Dawt Church of Christ. After moving to Springfield he attended the West 160 Hwy Church of Christ with Byron and his granddaughter, Rebekah. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Dale is survived by one son, Byron of Springfield, MO; three grandchildren – Joshua Dale Morrison and wife Jennifer, two daughters, Josie and Phoebe of Indianapolis, IN, Daniel Ray Morrison and wife Jan, one son, Archer of Nashville, TN and Rebekah Colleen Morrison of Springfield, MO; one sister, Patsy and husband Al Lindsay of Kennewick, WA; three sister-in-laws, Lura Hambelton, Fern Beasley and Opal Beasley each of Gainesville and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
